Ms. Skogen-Lucero is a highly regarded trial lawyer and litigator. She helps clients get justice while they are dealing with difficult medical malpractice issues, personal injuries, wrongful deaths and birth injuries and sexual assault and/or abuse. Her passion comes from her life experiences.

While in law school, she was an observer at the Truth and Reconciliation Commission hearings in South Africa. This legal body worked to uncover human rights violations that happened during apartheid. The hearings also worked to negotiate a peaceful settlement and established the country’s democratic elections.

Work With An Experienced And Accomplished Personal Injury Lawyer

Attorney Skogen-Lucero also worked for Justice Pamela B. Minzner, the first female chief justice of the New Mexico Supreme Court. Her work in New Mexico’s courts and the federal court system includes pre-suit, litigation, trial and appellate practice. She is admitted to the State Bar of New Mexico, the U.S. District Court for the District of New Mexico, the 10th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals and the Supreme Court of the United States.

She has experience in several notable cases, including work on the legal team that represented a family in the Estate of Brice v. Toyota Motor Corporation case. Her team successfully argued that a personal injury case against the corporation could move forward, even if it was filed later than the law allowed. The legal team, including Ms. Skogen-Lucero, successfully argued that the company hid problems until it was impossible for plaintiffs to meet the deadline.

Attorney Skogen-Lucero was also a lead trial attorney and lead in appellate court for James Woodard, whose surgical appointment at UNMH resulted in a subsequent MRSA infection and led to dozens of follow-up surgical interventions. Ms. Skogen-Lucero’s legal work resulted in a $4.5 million settlement for Woodard.
